Merry Christmas
Yesterday I got to celebrate Christmas with my roommates, boyfriend, and friends here at Tech. It was a fantastic break from finals week and a very Merry Christmas indeed! I don't have time to blog about it right now, but to tide you over, here's a video that I think you all would enjoy.

Fire Alarm
The only expression I can think of right now is "Eff you Larry." Now if you don't hang out with my friends, you might think that a bad phrase but it's our way of saying "forget you" or "seriously?!" or "no way!" or really any other expression we choose to fit with it. "Eff you Larry" is a quote from the movie I Love You Man that in the context of the movie was not that funny, but we latched hold of it and made it hilarious. Lol.
The reason this phrase comes to mind is because today is the last day of classes, and Gordon decided to congratulate us by waking us up at 8:10 AM with a fire drill! I took one look at Jessica and we silently decided not to leave. After just a few minutes of the drill (which lasted like 15 minutes), annoyed with the sounds and flashing lights, Jessica muttered the words "eff you Larry" and I had to start laughing. It was the perfect phrase for this situation.
Jessica hopped in the shower and I poked my head into the hall expecting to see streams of people leaving the building, but it seems to me that all of Gordon hall decided "Eff you Larry" and went back to sleep.

Just A Little Animal Science Humor :)
Click on the picture to see the whole comic strip... It's a little crude, but this is the type of stuff I get to learn about in class on a daily basis! :) :)
First Post
I've been inspired by my dear brother Trevor (yebkamin.blogspot.com) to start a blog of my experiences here at Texas Tech. I was under the impression that no one would want to hear about my life or classes, but apparently not everybody gets to learn about the different ways to collect semen from animals (Stallions-artificial vagina, Rams-electo ejaculator, and Boars-by hand--- in case you were wondering).
I am reaching the end of my 1st semester here, so I know it's an awkward time to start a blog, but I'm bored so here goes nothing. Well I guess bored isn't the right word to use. Technically I'm "working" in the Student Government Association office to get my hours done for the semester. I guess you could say I'm a "junior senator" for SGA. So far it's been a lot of fun. We have meetings every other week where I struggle to find clothes that are "business professional" that I can still ride my bike in, so I don't have to walk to the SUB, and we organized a Fall Festival for an underprivileged elementary school. It was pretty cool. We had tons of games and we brought Raider Red and some of our dance team and cheerleaders to show them how much fun we college kids can have. RAIDER!!!! POWER!!!!!
Side note. It seems to me that it is impossible to gather more than a couple hundred Tech students in one place without breaking out into this cheer. Like I understand doing Raider Power at sporting events, but must we start it at the Carol of Lights?! I'm just saying...
Back to SGA. We are having a meeting/Christmas party tonight that I can't go to :( because I have my Animal Science Lab final at 7:00. What is with all of these night finals?? On the one hand, I like them because I have all day to study, but on the other hand I hate them because they force me to stay alert until 9:00 at night. I think it is these night tests that I can blame for my new found "night owl"ness. This final is also causing me to miss out on Theta's big Christmas party, Lonestar! :( Oh well... There's always next year.
I think I've rambled on long enough. I should really go back to "working". But I did just notice that I'm not the most distracted person here! Haha. The girl next to me is shopping online for a "new year's dress". haha.... yay SGA.
Alright. Until next time, I'll be study microbes and their interactions with the human race. So You Think You Are Alone??.... think again....
